Sunho Park (b. 1993, Seoul) holds a B.F.A degree from Korea National University of Arts and an M.F.A degree from Seoul National University. She is currently making a self-reflective documentary video and installation work.
Park’s practice involved creating bundles composed of private memories, information, and visual images. Taking oral records, Park intertwines micro (personal, intimate histories) with macro (social, economic, and political backgrounds) histories. In doing so, Park hopes to show how the personal and universal are overlaid and fed into one another.
She creates a space for the stories and voices of individuals omitted from the historical canon or those deemed too trivial to be recorded. Park uses devices made obsolete by rapid development. Her practice takes on form via video, traversing still and fine-moving images. Park uses sound and its absence in her videos, remaining sensitivity to the interplay between what people see and hear.
Making adequate support (furniture) for the context of the video is an extension of her practice. She controls the screening environment, including the selection of filming techniques and the creation of physical environmental conditions for the viewer through the selection of screening devices.
