어머니의 USB에 저장된 이미지들을 파일명의 알파벳 순서에 따라 배열한다. 어머니가 매일 가꿔 온 웹사이트에 올라간 이 이미지들은 나와 어머니 사이의 이야기, 가족과 관련한 기억, 그리고 그가 평생에 걸쳐 모아 온 온갖 자료들을 망라한다. 비선형적이고 알아보기 어려운 이 자료들은 선형적으로 재배열되며 질서를 얻는다. 그러나 질서가 생길수록 자료들은 더욱 해독 불가능한 것이 된다. 넝마 같은 이미지로 구성된 이 성좌는 단 한 사람, 이 아카이브를 만들어낸 어머니를 위한 쓸모 없는 아카이브다. 오직 한 사람만을 위한 영상. Arranged in alphabetical order by filename, the images—sourced from my mother’s USB drive and her personal website—span the intimate narratives of our relationship, family history, and a lifetime of collected records. As this nonlinear accumulation is translated into a linear sequence, it acquires a structure that paradoxically renders it more indecipherable. What emerges is a constellation of ragged images: a ‘useless’ archive intended only for its creator—my mother. A video for no one else. (Artist’s note)
